Studio AW - Where narrative meets individuality
As my personal brand, I approached this objective with great passion, and with my foremost interest as its guiding force - literature. The world of publishing in all its forms has always been a type of obession for me. Reading, writing and the art of tying these two features into a visual assemblage is its own type of magic. Within this process, writers as individuals communicate their narratives in search of opportunistic relatability and connection. As an artist, I can create a physial manifestation of this. At its core, Studio AW strives to foster kinship and personalise the art of storytelling. To find the intricasies that both connect us and sets us apart. This duality is featured repeatedly - the harmony of stark black on white, of Arciform text that is both fluid and structured (no one's story is wholly hard or wholly soft, afterall). Many things and people seem clear-cut, but everyone contains context and complexion at a further glance.
Archetype & Narrative
The idea of illustrating a deck of cards with the totem of "Spirit Animals" in mind, ties into the theme of narrative by exploring the ideology of human archetypes. Certain attributes of a person can be studied in order to reason with the type of choices a person would make, with the caveat that I know, for a fact, it is not that simple. So, consequently, this deck of cards, and all copywriting found within, is complete banter. I wholeheartedly believe all human beings are complex, and will never be able to fit a single mold. This project explored this belief from a paradoxical perspective. While I use stark black and white for this entire venture, I'm in actual fact only focused on the grey shades seen in between.
